Educational component for RSUs 🎓
Employees who are granted equity most of the time have very little knowledge about their it works - how is it taxed? How do they turn the equity into actual tangible value?
We recently released an educational component on the employee dashboard for all employees with options and warrants that particularly addressed how exercising works. The educational piece has had very healthy engagement from employees, so we decided to continue the success for employees with RSUs as well.
When your employees with RSUs land on the employee dashboard they see a component, which tells them a bit about what RSUs are and they have a link to explore more. Once they click on it, there is an elaborate article about how RSUs work, what conditions there can be and - most importantly - general taxation information. We know from talking extensively with employees that the biggest question they have with their equity is how it is taxed. Therefore, we have high hopes that this article will be very helpful for your employees - and hopefully will take some of the burden of you to educate them.

Excel as an input for bulk issuance 🔼
One of the most important jobs to be done on Capdesk is issuing equity to employees and other stakeholders. Most companies - big or small - most commonly issue equity on either a quarterly, bi-yearly or annual basis. That means that when they do grant, they grant to multiple individuals in one go. In fact, most grants on Capdesk are issued in bulk. We are therefore committed to making that process and easy and effective as possible for our users.
That is why we have added Excel as a supported file format for importing grants onto Capdesk. This means we have improved the following:
- Better guidance and instructions when importing grants for issuance with the first row of the Excel template setting the example for how to fill out the template.
- Excel offers superior readability compared to CSV making the actual import process much simpler and intuitive.
You can find guidance on how to use the Excel import file here.

Excel as an output 🔽
Following on from the release of Excel files as an input, we have also improved the troubleshooting process for when the import fails.
Sometimes, an upload fails - maybe you forgot to fill out a field, maybe there is actually not enough in your incentive pool to issue under a specific plan? In that case, the system needs to the work of warning you and give you a chance to correct the error.
Now, when there is an issue with the issuance, the system will return your excel file to you with highlights where the issues are, so you can quickly get them fixed and re-upload! Saving you tons of time trying the debug the issues.

New exercise banners on the employee dashboard 💡
Once the employee has requested and exercise and paid the exercise cost, the admin still has to publish the exercise for the shares to appear on the employee dashboard. This can be confusing for employees who are in the dark while this approval on the admin side occurs. Especially when money has exchanged hands, this process is a bit terrifying. We have therefore now built a new banner for the employee which explains the process, so the employee can feel more confident that things are moving along. Moreover, we include a banner indicating if a grant has failed and next steps to move the process along. Again, we hope this transparency will help the employee feel more empowered in their equity journey.

Sunsetting the portfolio for most employees 🌅
Previously, employees could access some of their data on the employee dashboard and some of their data on their Portfolio page. However, we have been working on creating one source of truth for employees: their dashboard. Therefore, all the information found earlier on the Portfolio has been migrated over to the dashboard page for employees that hold one grant in one company.Â
