Activation
When you activate your Carta account, all stakeholders will be invited to set up their own account. Once activated, your company and its stakeholders have access to many more features, including:
- Individual dashboards. Each stakeholder has a personalised dashboard showing their equity holdings. You decide how much company information to share with stakeholders through Carta.
- Online option granting. Take away the hassle of sending out grant agreements yourself and use our DocuSign account to do this via Carta.
- Issue watermarked share certificates for signing – if you are using the shareholder register setting.
- Online exercises. Allow employees to exercise their options through Carta, within an exercise window controlled by you.
As a single source of truth for your company ownership, Carta works best when every stakeholder is on the platform. We give each stakeholder their own account because we believe in equity transparency for all. Investors, advisors and employees are equally deserving of accurate, up-to-date information about their holdings.
Stakeholder communications
Company administrators have full control over stakeholder access, and, at the lowest level, holders will only see information regarding their own equity.
Periodically, and per our email policy, Carta will send activation, periodic and event-driven emails from our system to your stakeholders, including asking them to review and accept their securities. This additional step allows us to verify the information provided by customers, and helps ensure company records are correct. It also gives stakeholders the opportunity to review the information and flag anything that seems incorrect.
This feature improves the accuracy of company records. The risk of incorrect data registered on Carta is minimised when stakeholders review and accept their securities. This is valuable for all companies, and essential for those using Carta as their shareholder register. It’s also a step towards greater visibility for stakeholders, something that’s integral to our mission.
