This article explains the placeholders required in the share certificate template.
The template itself is referred to as a Dynamic Document - this means that each placeholder in the document will refer to information about the shareholders' holdings. This support article will be divided in two sections:

1. Placeholders for share certificates with signatures
Required placeholders
These are placeholders that are required for share certificates in Carta. Without inputting them in the document, Carta will not let you proceed uploading the template onto the platform.
Please note that there are some required signature placeholders for this type of document. They will be flagged in the Signature placeholders section of this support article.

| <<Carta:IssuerSignatory1:Name>> | The name of the first person who is signing on behalf of the company. |
Signature placeholders
Signature placeholders may be optional or not. For share certificates, it is mandatory that the company's first signatory signs it. However, administrators may want to include witnesses and other signatories in the document execution.

Please note we currently do not support share certificates with:
- Coloured background.
- Different style fonts (for placeholders).
- Capitalising the shareholder's name if the name has been recorded in lowercase on Carta.
