From each jurisdiction company valuations may differ and you can record them in Carta.
For existing company valuations, you can record it on the Valuations page e.g. Average Market Value (AMV) / Unrestricted Market Value (UMV). You can also request Carta a valuation.
Currently, Carta supports the following valuation types:
- AMV/UMV
- Fair value
- Share price
- 409A valuation
- Custom valuation
Adding a Valuation
There are two types of valuations you can manually add on Carta:
a) Compliance valuations
1. Navigate to Compliance > Valuations > Compliance valuations
2. Click Add valuation > Add manual valuation.
3. Add the appropriate information and click Save.
b) Equity valuations
1. Navigate to Fundraising > Funding rounds > Equity valuations.
2. You will be able to see the share price history of your company based on your funding rounds historical valuations or the latest custom valuation set by you.
3. The historical valuations will be automatically generated based on the maximum share price of a funding round across all share issuances, convertible loan notes and grant exercises, within a funding round.
4. To add a custom valuation, enter the value in the Custom valuation box and click Add custom company valuation. The custom valuation will be recorded as of the date you add it.
Modifying a Valuation
Modifying a valuation is only available for Compliance valuations.
1. Navigate to Ownership > Valuations > Compliance valuations.
2. Click on the actions button on the right hand side of the valuation entry > Edit.
3. Enter the appropriate modification and click Save.
Please note, once added, you will only be able to modify the currency and the share price or add/change documents and notes. If you need to modify other details, please deprecate the valuation and enter a new one. |
Archiving a Valuation
1. To delete a valuation, navigate to the applicable type of valuation page (either Compliance valuations or Equity valuations).
2. Click on the action button on the right hand side of the valuation entry and select Archive.
