Protect your Carta account by adding an additional security measure.
Users that have two-factor authentication (2FA) are required to enter a verification code upon log in to their Carta account. The following authentication methods are supported by Carta:
Authenticator app: Google Authenticator, Authy, 1Password, etc.
SMS text message: a text message will be sent to your cellphone number.

Enabling 2FA Using an Authenticator App
1. Navigate to your User Icon at the top right-hand corner of your Carta account > User preferences page.

2. Under Settings, click Enable 2FA via authenticator app.

3. Scan the QR code using the authenticator app of your choice. Enter the six-digit code provided by your app and click Verify code.

4. Carta will provide backup codes for use in the event that you lose access to your authentication device. Download and keep these codes in a secure place in order to preserve access to your account without going through the entire two-factor authentication reset process.

Enabling 2FA Using SMS
1. Navigate to your User Icon at the top right-hand corner of your Carta account > User preferences page.

2. Under Settings, click Enable 2FA via SMS.

3. Enter your phone number and click Verify phone number.

4. Enter the code sent to your phone and click Verify code.

If you do not receive the code, click 'Resend Code', if after a while the code has still not been sent then please contact support.
Enabling Both Authentication Methods
If both authentication methods are enabled for an account, Carta will default to requesting the code from the authenticator app first. Authentication methods can be switched by clicking Use SMS instead.

Disabling or Changing 2FA
1. Navigate to your User Icon at the top right-hand corner of your Carta account > User preferences page.

2. Under Settings, click Edit 2FA or Disable 2FA.
